But Google Chrome does not allows its users to install extensions from unknown sources. So as a solution, you can enable the developer mode in Chrome, doing which is super easy.
Make sure that you check Developer mode and click the Load unpacked extension... button.

Turn off Developer Mode. Drag and drop the .crx file from the packed extension. Close Chrome, and then open it again.
Consider this a development version as well. It is like Chrome, but without Google-specific features.

This only works in developer mode. If you wish to upload your extensions to the Google Store you also need to Pack your extension because the Chrome Store only accepts extensions that come in .crx files and that is also how you usually download the extensions.
